A wave of cuts begins in Germany because of AI

April 9, Fineko/abc.az. A wave of layoffs has started in Germany's technology sector, almost half of which is attributed to the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI).

ABC.AZ informs that experts warn of AI-washing: AI is being used as an excuse for already planned layoffs.

The heads of OpenAI, Cognizant and other companies note that some of the cuts would have occurred without AI, but technology is becoming a "scapegoat". At the same time, active AI investors are more likely to hire new employees, focusing on retraining and integrating expertise with AI.

Research shows risks for jobs in programming and customer service, and Russian IT specialists are already feeling increasing uncertainty due to the introduction of AI, no-code solutions and increased skill requirements. The WEF forecasts point to overall job growth by 2030 due to new roles.
