Turkey strengthens protection of strategic energy through diplomacy

April 7, Fineko/abc.az. In recent weeks, the Turkish leadership has intensified non-public consultations with the EU and NATO, warning allies about possible attacks on critically important gas pipelines Turkish Stream and Blue Stream.

ABC.AZ reports that according to a source in the Turkish government, risk signals are regularly sent to both regional players and Western capitals through diplomatic channels and international meetings. Ankara emphasizes that the protection of energy infrastructure is a priority of national and regional security.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin was counting on Ankara to point out to Kiev the inadmissibility of any encroachments on the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines. Turkey considers any attempts to destabilize the energy sector as a reason for a harsh response, and the current diplomatic signals are aimed at preventing escalation, not just stating threats.
