March 19, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. administration is considering the possibility of obliging ships escorted by the U.S. Navy to purchase government insurance instead of commercial insurance, which could cover ships worth up to $20 billion.
ABC.AZ informs that the program will be implemented through DFC and private insurer Chubb, with U.S. revenues expected to reach tens of millions of dollars.
Experts note the high uncertainty regarding the actual military protection and the possible start of insurance coverage in no earlier than a week. Insurance tariffs have increased from 0.25% up to 3% of the cost of the vessel because of threats of Iranian strikes.
