February 26, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has announced the list of systemically important banks for 2026.

ABC.AZ reports that this list includes: International Bank of Azerbaijan (ABB), Kapital Bank, PASHA Bank, Bank Respublika and Unibank.

Systemically important banks are of particular importance for the financial stability of a country, as possible problems in them may affect the entire banking system. These organizations are evaluated by the CBA on special criteria.

The assessment covers four areas: size, interconnectedness, indispensability, and complexity. The total assets and deposit portfolio are taken into account in the "size" category. "Interconnectedness" includes the bank's obligations and requirements in relation to other financial institutions. The "indispensability" criterion evaluates payment transactions (including through AZIPS system), the number of depositors and customers, as well as the bank's branch and POS-network. "Complexity" is measured by the volume of derivatives and securities intended for trading.

A bank is considered systemically important if the calculated index is 420 basis points or higher.
