Sellers of electronic cigarettes to be fined 5,000 manats

February 20, Fineko/abc.az. The Milli Majlis adopted in the 1st reading the amendments providing for fines for the use, import and export, production, wholesale and retail sale, as well as storage of electronic cigarettes and their components for the purpose of marketing.

ABC.AZ reports that the relevant amendments to the Code of Administrative Misconduct were submitted for discussion at today's plenary session of the Parliament.

The document emphasizes that a fine of 30 manats will be applied for smoking electronic cigarettes in prohibited places, on the streets and in other public places.

According to the draft, the confiscation of the infringing item and the imposition of an administrative fine are provided for the use, import and export, production, wholesale and retail sale, as well as storage of electronic cigarettes and their components for the purpose of sale. For individuals, the fine will range from 350 to 500 manats, for officials - from 1,650 to 2,200 manats, for legal entities - from 4,000 to 5,000 manats.

If the amendments are adopted, their entry into force is scheduled for April 1.

After discussions, the draft was put to the vote and adopted in the 1st reading.
