Cocoa futures prices in London drop below $4,000 per ton first time since 2023

16:20 - 30.01.2026

January 30, Fineko/abc.az. The price of cocoa bean futures for March 2026 delivery at the London ICE Exchange fell below $4,000 per ton for the first time since November 14, 2023, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the bidding data.

As of 14:42 (Baku time), the futures price decreased by 5.27% to $3,957 per ton.

According to Bloomberg, prices were falling amid reports on cocoa bean processing. They indicated that demand for beans had decreased due to a prolonged period of price increases over the past 2 years.

Bloomberg added that cocoa bean futures reached an all-time high in December 2024 due to crop failures in West Africa. The price shock has prompted consumers to reduce their chocolate consumption, and candy manufacturers have changed the formulation to use cheaper substitutes and include more fillers, particularly nuts.
