January 29, Fineko/abc.az. By 2030, Microsoft will consume nearly 18 billion liters of water for data centers - 150% more than in 2020, ABC.AZ informs, referring to NYT.

The forecast does not take into account contracts worth more than $50 billion, which means further growth. Consumption will increase especially sharply in regions with water scarcity, including the Jakarta area. In the U.S., due to the AI boom, the demand for water for data centers will increase significantly. As a result, Microsoft's footprint will be comparable to that of major industrial corporations such as Toyota.
