December 8, Fineko/abc.az. Some Azerbaijani citizens are ready to spend their money abroad, but at the same time they try to circumvent the procedure for declaring goods, ABC.AZ reports, quoting State Customs Committee’s chair Shahin Bagirov.

He added that citizens are obliged to declare imported goods and act within the law: "If the goods are declared, there are no problems. The import of any property into Azerbaijan (clothes, phones, mobile devices or other items other than those prohibited by law) is not restricted. There are only procedural rules: Goods need to be declared and customs fees must be paid."

He noted that customs duties are collected and transferred to the State Budget: "Further, these funds are used to finance various areas. Therefore, each of us must constantly raise this issue. Of course, there may be complaints that the customs value is high. But we can discuss this issue. Some citizens are willing to spend money abroad, but at the same time they try to avoid declaring goods and making customs payments to the budget. Yes, it happens. But together with the media, we must cover this process so that our youth, the population and society are better informed."
