Amazon to build its own nuclear power plant to power servers and AI

10:55 - 21.10.2025

October 21, Fineko/abc.az. Jeff Bezos from Amazon presented the design of his first nuclear power plant. The company plans to provide its servers and artificial intelligence with energy on its own.

ABC.AZ informs that Cascade Advanced Energy Facility, a new nuclear power plant, will appear in Washington State, which will initially include four small Xe-100 type reactors. In total, the company intends to install up to twelve small reactors (SMR - Small Modular Reactors).

The mini-reactors will be created by American company X-energy, in which Amazon invested around $500 million back in October 2024. At the first stage, the reactors will produce up to 320 megawatts of electricity, and after completion of all stages, the capacity will grow to 960 megawatts, which is enough for nearly 3.8 million families.
