September 23, Fineko/abc.az. Almost half of Europeans (47%) prefer to buy frozen food, including for environmental reasons.

ABC.AZ informs that this follows from the results of a survey commissioned by Nomad Foods, Europe's largest frozen food company.

According to the European Consumer Organization, almost 59 million tons of food waste are generated in Europe every year.

One of the most effective solutions to this problem is frozen fish, meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables and fruits, organization’s experts believe.

Food waste is loss of not only food, but also the resources used in its production and transportation, including fuel, water, land, labor, fertilizers, and packaging.

And when products begin to decompose in landfills, methane is released, a gas that accounts for about a third of the total contribution of greenhouse gases to global warming.
