September 19, Fineko/abc.az. From January to July of this year, Azerbaijan imported 912.9 tons of lettuce for $651,300 from foreign countries (a rise of 31% in value and a rise of 25% in quantity against Jan-Jul 2024), ABC.AZ informs, referring to the State Statistics Committee.

Azerbaijan bought 912.3 tons (30% more) of lettuce mainly from Iran for $646,000 (32% more than a year ago), 0.5 tons from Spain for $4,400 (no supplies in the previous year), 0.05 tons for $500 from the Netherlands (no supplies a year ago), 0.35 tons for $0.02 from Italy (no supplies a year ago), 0.03 tons for $200 from the UAE (no supplies a year ago).

Azerbaijan exported 213.4 tons of lettuce worth $118,100 (19% less in quantity and 38% less in value versus Jan-Jul 2024). The main buyers were Russia, where 204.4 tons were sold for $107,000 (-23% and -44%, respectively), and Belarus, where 9 tons were sold for $11,100. This year, for the first time in the last 14 years (official foreign trade statistics have been conducted since 2011), lettuce was exported to Belarus.
