September 19, Fineko/abc.az. Some companies have already suspended the import of hybrid cars and electric vehicles in Azerbaijan. Customs privileges applied to hybrid and electric vehicles in Azerbaijan expire at the end of the year. The reason for the suspension of imports is also that cars from abroad arrive 3-4 months earlier than everyone else. That is, companies are not taking risks. It is unclear whether the benefits will be continued or suspended.

ABC.AZ informs that it has been three years since eco-friendly vehicles were exempt from customs duties and VAT.

The expiration of the grace period for hybrid and electric vehicles from January 1, 2026, will also affect car imports. This suggests that from now on, many importing companies will temporarily stop importing cars.

The head of the car importing company, Ilgar Aliyev, believes that since the extension of the 3-year grace period for hybrid and electric vehicles in 2022 is currently in doubt, buyers are also being cautious when buying such vehicles.

MP Azer Badamov believes that from angle of preserving the environment and updating the fleet, it is important to extend the grace period.

According to experts, if the grace period is not extended, an increase in prices for hybrid and electric vehicles is possible.
