September 17, Fineko/abc.az. Currently, the annual volume of transit cargo transportation in Azerbaijan reaches 15 million tons.

ABC.AZ reports that Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Gummatov made the relevant statement at today's meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship.

According to Gummatov, the socio-economic policy pursued by the country's leadership in recent years and the adopted state programs have generally created conditions for the expansion and development of transport infrastructure: "As a result, the country is turning into one of the transport hubs on the Eurasian continent in a short time."

He noted that thanks to the work done in seaports and other areas of transport, a record number of transit cargoes were transported through Azerbaijan last year: "This figure is already approaching 15 million tons. There is also a significant increase in domestic freight traffic. A number of transport corridors passing through the country, numerous meetings, statements and recent signed documents also open up broad prospects for us."
