September 9, Fineko/abc.az. AzInTelecom is negotiating with the Baku Metro to enable citizens to make payments using facial recognition technology, Farruh Farajullayev, Director of the Commercial Department at AzInTelecom, told journalists.

According to ABC.AZ, he noted that implementing facial recognition in buses is more complex and requires testing before a final decision can be made:

“Traffic lights cause certain delays and difficulties, so the facial recognition system may be applied to buses at a later stage. I would also like to note that this payment method is new for Azerbaijan and is primarily popular in Asian countries. Alongside the facial recognition system, card payments will continue to be used in buses.”
