September 8, Fineko/abc.az. Currently, private transport companies supporting the state initiative continue to deliver modern buses to the country that use environmentally friendly technologies, namely electricity or compressed natural gas.

ABC.AZ reports, citing the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), that in 2025, ten bus routes were modernized, and around 150 eco-friendly buses were deployed for passenger transportation.

The modernization process covered not only the capital but also the city of Sumgayit and the Absheron District.

On seven routes, 85 modern buses were put into service. In addition, transport operators are expected to deliver another 200 eco-friendly and comfortable buses for operations in Baku in the near future.

The buses operate on dedicated lanes. Currently, over 112 kilometers of bus lanes have been established on nearly 40 streets and avenues. Around 1 million passengers are transported daily by buses operating on these lanes in the capital and its surroundings. The average speed on dedicated bus lanes in Baku has increased, reducing travel time in some areas of the city to 12–22 minutes.
