September 4, Fineko/abc.az. Rail freight volumes in Azerbaijan decreased by almost 10% compared to last year.

According to ABC.AZ, revenues from freight transportation in the first half of 2025 amounted to 192.62 million manats, compared to 213.25 million manats in the same period of the previous year.

In the revenues of railway operators, 51.7 million manats came from imports, 39.9 million manats from exports, and 74.7 million manats from transit cargo.

The decline in revenues is linked to a 9.4% year-on-year drop in freight volumes, down to 8,442,200 tons. Over the same period last year, 9,316,700 tons were transported by rail. Of the total freight, 2,465,900 tons came from imports (up 9.8%), 1,395,500 tons came from exports (down 6.5%), and 3,267,200 tons from transit cargo (down 12.9%).
