August 27, Fineko/abc.az. The American company OpenAI, developer of the ChatGPT neural network, plans to add a parental control function to the chatbot amid accusations related to the death of a 16-year-old teenager who wrote to the chatbot about plans to commit suicide.

According to ABC.AZ, citing OpenAI, a parental control feature will soon be introduced, allowing parents to receive more information on how their children are using ChatGPT.

In addition, users will be able to add a trusted contact in the chatbot for communication in emergency situations, which will allow direct access to help. Users will also have the option to call emergency services with one tap.

The company notes that ChatGPT has algorithms designed to discourage users from engaging in dangerous actions, but during prolonged conversations the chatbot’s responses may sometimes be incorrect.
