July 28, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. is the leader in artificial intelligence (AI), China holds the 2nd place, and the UK - 3rd position.

ABC.AZ informs that this assessment is provided in the report on the global index of AI innovations, prepared by the Chinese Institute of Scientific & Technological Information and Peking University.

The report was presented at the World Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Shanghai. The authors studied 46 countries based on five criteria: basic support, resources and environment for development, scientific and technological research and development, industry and the application of innovations, as well as international cooperation and exchanges. The countries were analyzed on 39 indicators, each of which was evaluated on a three-tier system.

The U.S. and China are leading in the field of AI by a wide margin from other countries, according to the report. These countries account for the majority of companies producing chips for artificial intelligence, highly qualified specialists, articles in leading scientific journals, as well as the majority of large AI models, the researchers believe.

The U.S. scored 77.97 out of 100, China - 58.01, and the UK - 36.60. Top 10 also includes Japan (33.77), the Republic of Korea (33.48), Germany (32.22), Singapore (31.57), France (30.98), Canada (29.79) and India (29.41). Russia took the 30th place with 17.49 points.
