July 21, Fineko/abc.az. Georgia and Kazakhstan discussed prospects for deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan on the development of container transportation in the China–Europe direction.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Georgian Ministry of Economy & Sustainable Developmen, thatt this became known during the meeting of Economy & Sustainable Development Minister Mariam Kvirivashvili with Transport Minister of Kazakhstan Nurlan Sauranbayev.
Special attention was paid at the meeting to the role of Azerbaijan in ensuring stable and efficient operation of the route. In particular, the importance of joint venture Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd., established by Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Georgia, was highlighted in order to ensure the smooth, reliable and efficient operation of international corridors. The company renders services on the principle of "single window", promotes the consistency of logistics policy and ensures the predictability of the timing and cost of transportation.
Mariam Kvirivashvili also provided information on key infrastructure projects implemented by the Georgian government in the transport and logistics sector - the port of Anaklia, the East–West highway, the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway, as well as projects to modernize the railway infrastructure.
At the end of the meeting, the Georgian side invited the Transport Minister of Kazakhstan to participate in the 5th Silk Road Forum to be held in Tbilisi on October 22-23.
