FAO and OECD: Consumption of animal products to increase by 6% within 10 years

July 21, Fineko/abc.az. According to the forecast of the FAO and the OECD, from 2025 to 2034, the share of animal products in the world will grow by an average of 6%, and the total consumption of agricultural products and fish - by 13%.

ABC.AZ informs that growth will be provided by middle-income countries due to improved access to technologies and finance.

Consumption of meat, dairy products and fish will increase due to urbanization and rising incomes. However, food shortages persist in the poorest countries: the caloric content of the diet is less than half of the recommended norm.

Global production is expected to increase by 14%, especially on productio of poultry (+21%) and beef (+13%). The average meat consumption per capita will increase by 900 grams, and the cumulative growth will reach 47.9 million tons.
