July 17, Fineko/abc.az. Automaker Ford Motor is recalling 694,271 vehicles in the United States due to a fuel leak in the engine compartment, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Cracks may occur in the fuel injector of these vehicles, which can lead to fuel leakage and a fire under the hood, the NHTSA warns.
The problem with the injector was identified back in March 2024 and was studied by the Ford expert commission, which recommended installing drainage and updating the engine management system software to fix it. Replacement of the part was not provided. Then 42,000 cars were recalled due to the defect.
NHTSA later initiated an audit of the adequacy of the measures taken by Ford, noting that they did not address the root cause of the problem.
