July 11, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) signed the Memorandum of Understanding with state corporation Chinese Railways to further strengthen cooperation in the field of railway transport and transit, as well as implementation of digital projects.
ABC.AZ informs with reference to ADY that the document was signed by ADY chairman Rovshan Rustamov during his visit to China and Chinese Railways’ president Sun Xuedo.
It was emphasized at the meeting that cooperation between two countries’ railway institutions covers a wide range: from transit transportation and multimodal solutions to infrastructure development and digitalization of processes.
As a result of effective cooperation, the volume of goods transported by rail between both states in 2024 grew by 47% up to 612,000 tons. In the same year, 287 container trains were received from China, and in 6 months of this year, 199 have already been received. More than 400 container trains are to be received by the end of the year.
During the visit, Rustamov also met with Talgat Aldybergenov, the chairman of board of Kazakhstan Railways.
The parties highlighted the importance of further expanding cooperation between the two countries in the field of transit transportation and strengthening coordinated actions for the timely delivery of container cargo from China to Europe to its destinations.
In addition, during a working visit to China on July 8, the ADY delegation participated in the XII World Congress on High-Speed Rail Transport in Beijing.
