July 10, Fineko/abc.az. U.S. President Donald Trump has announced on Wednesday that the country would impose a 50% tariff on Brazilian imports, partly due to the lawsuit against former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to CNBC, that the ex-leader is accused of attempting a coup d'etat in order to reverse his defeat in the country's elections in 2022.

In a letter posted on website Truth Social, Trump called Brazil's treatment of Bolsonaro an "international disgrace" and the ongoing persecution a "witch hunt that must end immediately!"

Trump also accused Brazil in the letter of "extremely unfair trade relations" with the U.S., adding that the U.S. was launching an investigation into Brazil in connection with its trade practices.
