Tesla loses ground in China: Sales fall first time in a year

12:10 - 9.07.2025

July 9, Fineko/abc.az. Until recently, the Chinese market provided Tesla with not only a significant share of sales, but also their growth, but the second quarter demonstrated the cessation of this trend.

ABC.AZ informs that according to CPCA, in the second quarter of 2025, sales of locally assembled vehicles fell by 4.3% against Q1 and by 11.7% year-on-year. Despite attempts to stimulate demand with discounts, competition in China remains high. The share of exported cars increased to 32.8%, which indicates a decrease in domestic demand. Although sales in China increased in June, exports fell by 56.2% in the same month. In general, Tesla's exports from China declined almost by 32% in the 1st half of the year, reflecting a global drop in demand for company's products.
