July 3, Fineko/abc.az. Rostelecom (operating in Armenia under OVIO brand) may sell 100% of shares of the large Armenian telecom operator GNC-Alfa for $40 million.
ABC.AZ reports that Boris Demirkhanyan, deputy director of OVIO, informed about this to the Armenian Internet resource MediaHub.
He clarified that the final cost will be determined during the final discussions.
The buyer will be local company Viva Armenia. It is owned by Cyprus-based Fedilco Group Limited, which is owned by European and Asian investors.
Rostelecom acquired GNC-Alfa in 2012 - the company bought 75% of shares for $22.5 million, further increasing the share to 100%. The Russian provider has been thinking about sale of the asset since at least 2017.
