July 3, Fineko/abc.az. Afghan Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdul Ghani Baradar discussed the development of the Lapis Lazuli Transport Corridor at a meeting with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov in Baku, ABC.AZ reports, referring to a post on the official page of the Deputy Minister of Economy of Afghanistan on X.

The Azerbaijani PM expressed readiness to increase exports and imports with Afghanistan.

"The Lapis Lazuli Corridor is considered as the most promising alternative route for Afghanistan's foreign trade. The countries located along this route represent large markets for key Afghan goods, primarily dried fruits, medicinal herbs and minerals," the post says.

The Lapis Lazuli Corridor is a trade and transport route that starts at the ports of Athens and Turgundi in the Afghan provinces of Faryab and Herat, reaches the port of Turkmenbashi in Turkmenistan, crosses the Caspian Sea to Baku in Azerbaijan, passes through Tbilisi and Georgia and continues to Turkey, eventually connecting with Europe.

In turn,information portal Alemarah reports that a delegation from Afghanistan has arrived in Azerbaijan to participate in the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
