Turkey increases fee for passage through Bosphorus and Dardanelles Straits

12:20 - 1.07.2025

July 1, Fineko/abc.az. Since July 1, the Turkish authorities have increased the cost of passage through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles Straits, increasing it by 15% as part of the traditional annual audit.

ABC.AZ reports that the increase in fees was previously announced by Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu. He recalled that "starting from July 1, 2025, fees will be increased by 15% compared to the norms of the previous year and will amount to $5.83 per ton".

According to country’s authorities, the increase in fees is necessary in connection with growth of maritime traffic through the straits and the associated risks and burden on coastal services and infrastructure. A significant amount of the fee will be used to finance the work of coastal services, rescuers, doctors, and to eliminate the consequences of accidents.
