June 3, Fineko/abc.az. Integration of subway fare payment via Google Pay, Apple Pay and other e-wallets is planned, ABC.AZ informs, quoting Elvin Abbasov, a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport.

He noted that it is planned to launch a mobile application of the Baku metro.:

"The metro already has an expanded Data Analytics Department, and decisions are made based on data analysis. In order to reduce the congestion of the metro, the design process of 10 new stations continues as a result of modeling using Digital Twin technology. One of those stations will be put into operation in the near future, and others will be opened in stages by 2030.

Abbasov added that currently the Baku Metro transports 220-230 million passengers a year:

"Close to 6 million of them are preferential (free) trips. The number of daily passengers on weekdays increases to an average of 740,000 people."
