June 3, Fineko/abc.az.Russia fully supports the efforts aimed at a peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear program, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
He stressed that countries have the right to peaceful energy. According to Peskov, the use of peaceful atomic energy occurs and should occur exclusively under the strict supervision of the IAEA and the international community. He added that this happens everywhere, in all countries of the world.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said that a potential deal with Iran excludes any uranium enrichment. However, the Axios portal reported that Washington allegedly allows limited enrichment at a low level. Iranian MP Abolfazl Zohrevand spoke about U.S.’ proposal to suspend enrichment and create a consortium with the participation of the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Iran. Earlier, Iran said it was not considering the option of temporarily suspending uranium enrichment, while the Iranian Foreign Ministry then commented on the possibility of suspending enrichment for a year. In addition, Tehran stated that creation of a consortium should not be an alternative to enrichment on the territory of Iran itself.
