May 26, Fineko/abc.az. The Minister of Agriculture of Japan plans to release 300,000 tons of rice to the market at the fixed price - approx. 10,000 yens per 60 kg - in order to reduce costs amid rising prices and the upcoming elections.
ABC.AZ informs that rice prices have doubled over the past year, and last month alone the price rose by 98.4%, which was a record since the 1970s.
Previously, 200,000 tons of rice had already been allocated from reserves, but only 11% of this volume reached the stores. To speed up deliveries, the minister has created a special team of 500 people.
