May 5, Fineko/abc.az. For the first time since her appointment to the post on December 1, 2024, the head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi about Iran's nuclear program. She wrote about this in X.

"I spoke with Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi to emphasize the importance of diplomacy on nuclear issues and for de-escalation in the region," she wrote.

Kallas called on Iran to stop allegedly providing military support to Russia, and also expressed concern about the detention of EU citizens in Iran for espionage. She stressed that relations between Brussels and Tehran "depend on progress on all these issues".
