April 11, Fineko/abc.az. During the construction of a tunnel to separate the red and green lines of the Baku Metro, passengers will have to use alternative public transport to change the line, ABC.AZ report, referring to the Baku Metro.

The metro has launched comprehensive measures to separate lines in order to regulate passenger traffic, optimize train travel intervals and improve the overall quality of service.

Currently, there are three lines in the metro network: red, green and purple. Of them, only the purple line operates in a completely independent mode. The red and green lines intersect at the May 28 station and share a common infrastructure. At this stage, work is planned on the complete separation of the green and red lines from each other and the transition of each of them to an independent mode of operation.

For this purpose, the construction of the Darnagul electric depot was started for the first time. This depot will provide independent maintenance of the Green Line, completely separate from other lines and operating independently, as well as night train service.

In addition, in parallel with these works, an additional transit tunnel is to be built within the project, which will connect the stations "May 28" and "Jafar Jabbarli" for convenient passenger travel.
