April 8, Fineko/abc.az. India is selling rice at the price close to a 2-year low due to weak demand. The U.S. imposed duties of 26% on all Indian goods, 36% on goods from Thailand and 37% on products from Bangladesh.

ABC.AZ reports that rice with a crushed percentage of 5% is sold in Thailand for $395-$400 per ton. This is the lowest price since January 2022. Indian 5% crushed steamed rice was sold at the same price due to weak demand from African buyers. Indian 5% crushed white rice was sold for $380-$385 per ton.

Importers have suffered losses due to the sharp drop in prices, so they are cautious about new purchases, said Himanshu Agrawal, executive director of exporting company Satyam Balajee.
