April 3, Fineko/abc.az. The Federal Bailiff Service of the Russian Federation is developing a mechanism for confiscating bitcoins for transfer to state revenue, ABC.AZ reports, citing Service’s head Dmitry Aristov.
He stressed that the method of withdrawing cryptocurrencies is based on a real criminal case, and digital gold is a "problematic asset".
In July 2023, the Nikulinsky District Court of Moscow seized 1032.1 BTC from former investigator Marat Tambiev for state revenue. In October 2024, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for accepting bribes for more than 2,718 BTC (7.3 billion rubles) and $1.5 million.
Aristov stated that the issue of how to confiscate cryptocurrency has not yet been resolved. He added that the first priority is to create a legislative framework that would regulate the circulation of "relevant" bitcoins in Russia.
