March 10, Fineko/abc.az. I do not agree that the Internet speed in Azerbaijan is low, ABC.AZ informs that Jeyhun Huseynzade, deputy chairman of board of the Information & Communication Technologies Agency (ICTA).

He added that over the past 3 years, Internet speed in the republic has tripled.

"There has been significant progress in Internet quality compared to previous periods. Within Online Azerbaijan Project, the use of GPON technologies in the country has reached 100%. GPON technology has the ability to provide faster internet speeds compared to earlier technologies. Therefore, I do not agree that the Internet speed in Azerbaijan is low. There are historical reasons why the Internet speed in Azerbaijan is lower than in countries such as the UAE, Bahrain, Korea, Singapore," Huseynzade said.
