March 7, Fineko/abc.az. U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a decree on the formation of a strategic bitcoin cryptocurrency reserve.
ABC.AZ informs that in was inforemd by investor David Sachs, who was appointed co-chairman of the scientific advisory committee under the president and responsible for US policy in the field of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies, the reserve may consist of about 200,000 bitcoins.
"Just a few minutes ago, President Trump signed an executive order to create a strategic bitcoin reserve. The reserve will be formed at the expense of bitcoins owned by the federal government, which were seized as part of criminal or civil proceedings for asset confiscation. This means that it won't cost taxpayers a single cent," Sachs pointed out.
According to his estimates, the American government owns nearly 200,000 bitcoins ($17.7 billion).
"It is estimated that the U.S. government owns about 200,000 bitcoins, but a full audit has never been conducted," he added.
Also, President Donald Trump, in addition to the strategic bitcoin reserve, has created a reserve of US digital assets, which will include all other cryptocurrencies. Trump's decree notes that both reserves will belong to the U.S. Treasury Department and will be formed at the expense of cryptocurrencies confiscated from intruders during criminal or civil proceedings.
