January 10, Fineko/abc.az. 20 new subway cars are to be commissioned in Azerbaijan this year.

ABC.AZ informs that Deputy Minister of Digital Development & Transport Rahman Humbatov stated about this at a press conference on transport events in 2024 and plans for 2025.

He noted that last year the number of passengers carried by metro reached 230 million people.

"This is close to a record figure for passenger traffic on the subway," he stressed.

Humbatov said that over the past years, 7 metro stations and one depot have been built and commissioned in Baku.

"At that, 150 new-generation railcars were delivered to Baku. As a result, half of the subway cars are new-generation cars. Work was also carried out in the field of railway construction. The length of the built railways and upgraded lines has exceeded 1,500 km," he said.
