Mikheil Kavelashvili took office as President of Georgia

December 29, Fineko/abc.az. Mikheil Kavelashvili assumed the post of President of Georgia. The inauguration of the new head of state was broadcast on the website of the Parliament of Georgia.

ABC.AZ reports that in a solemn ceremony, Kavelashvili swore an oath based on the Bible and the Constitution of Georgia in the plenary hall of the Parliament.

The ceremony was also attended by members of the Kavelashvili family, members of Parliament, representatives of the Georgian Orthodox Church and other religious denominations, heads of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, Head of the Government of Adjara Tornike Rizhvadze, members of the Georgian government, the electors who elected Kavelashvili, as well as other officials and military personnel.

Before the inauguration, the briefing was conducted by the now ex-President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili. She performed at the Presidential Palace on Orbeliani Square. There was a small rally of her supporters. Ex-President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has already left the presidential palace, located in Tbilisi on Orbeliani Square, and went out to her supporters.
