December 18, Fineko/abc.az. Japanese corporations Honda Motor and Nissan Motor are in preliminary merger talks in connection with growing competition with Chinese automakers and lower-than-expected consumer demand for electric vehicles.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Financial Times, that both companies are "exploring a way to combine that will help them compete better". In the event of a merger, a giant with assets of $52 billion will appear in the global automotive industry. It will become the third largest automaker in the world after Toyota and Volkswagen, which will attract investments in order to compete with Tesla and China's BYD.
