October 25, Fineko/abc.az. A special project is underway on the territory where historical sights are concentrated, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport.
Thus, in Baku, as part of the mobility transformation program, the proposed project on the central part of the capital – Icherisheher and Aziz Aliyev Street begins on October 27.
The project, approved by the Transport Coordination Council, envisages restriction of automobile traffic from the intersection of Istiglaliyat Street with Azerbaijan Avenue to Aziz Aliyev Street, creation of tourist bus stops on the square in front of the gate of Gosha Gala, complete restriction of car traffic along Aziz Aliyev Street.
The entry of all vehicles into the territory of Icherisheher will be restricted, with exception of cars of residents and diplomatic representatives, vehicles of operational, technical, housing and communal services, enterprises. The entry of these vehicles into Icherisheher will be allowed from Neftchiler Avenue.
It is planned to create a pedestrian zone and lanes for micro-mobility on the territory.
The creation of tourist bus stops on the square in front of Gosha Gala will allow guests of Icherisheher to get to this place more comfortably. The restriction of automobile traffic on Aziz Aliyev Street will allow to expand the pedestrian zone starting from Nizami Street, connect the lines of micromobility with the existing lane on Istiglaliyat Street and extend it towards the Seaside National Park.
Thus, a large pedestrian zone will be created in the central part of the city. For the first time, the project of complete restriction of car traffic was implemented around the Khagani Garden. After a large-scale reconstruction, this area has completely turned into a pedestrian zone. Currently, the process of creating such a zone continues on the square in front of the May 28 metro station.
