October 23, Fineko/abc.az. Project documents for the reconstruction of railways in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic are being prepared.

ABC.AZ reports, quoting Rovshan Rustamov, chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, stated to journalists about this.

He noted that construction of the railway line in the direction of Goradiz-Agbend is currently underway at accelerated pace: "The main purpose of our recent visit to Iran was to discuss the construction project of the Agbend (Azerbaijan)-Salam Melik (Iran) railway line. We can say that the most suitable and optimal route has already been agreed, and recent negotiations are underway on where the bridges will be located, including."

The project of a railway line that will provide a direct land connection between the Eastern Zangezur Economic Region and the NAR through the territory of Iran was agreed last year.

Work on the 110.4 km long Goradiz-Agbend railway line will be completed in 2025.
