October 17, Fineko/abc.az. Japanese telecommunications company SoftBank Vision Fund is investing $500 million in the latest round of financing for OpenAI, ABC.AZ reports, referring to publication The Information.

The company behind the artificial intelligence boom is raising $6.5 billion in convertible bonds.

Apple refused to participate in a large round of financing in an AI startup of $150 billion before SoftBank's investment. However, this assessment will depend on whether the creator of ChatGPT can change its corporate structure and lift the profit cap for investors. The deal represents SoftBank's first investment in a company headed by Sam Altman.

Earlier it became known that OpenAI is working over a plan to restructure its core business into a commercial corporation, which will no longer be controlled by a non-profit board of directors.
