October 9, Fineko/abc.az. Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) is planning to construct a plant on production of "superchip" GB200 in Mexico commissioned by the American corporation Nvidia, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Yang Liu, the head of Foxconn, as saying this at company’s annual technology conference.
According to the top manager, the Guadalajara plant will become the largest assembly site for such chips. GB200 is required for next-generation Blackwell GPUs developed by Nvidia — these powerful processors will be used primarily for artificial intelligence systems.
Foxconn's decision to build a plant in Mexico is another indication of the desire of many technology companies to reduce dependence on supplies from China. Because of tensions between the U.S. and China, as well as rising labor costs in China and tighter local regulations, many Western corporations are trying to move production to other countries.
