Number of billionaires in Germany has reached 249

October 3, Fineko/abc.az. The number of billionaires in Germany has increased by 23 people over the past year and reached 249, ABC.AZ reports, referring to Manager Magazin.

Following journal’s research, this is the highest figure recorded since 2001, when the jorunal began to conduct appropriate assessments.

Since last year, the fortune of the first 500 businessmen has increased by 53 billion euros up to 1.1 trillion euros, which is a new record. The list of the richest people in Germany is led by Dieter Schwartz, founder of Lidl and Kaufland supermarkets. With a total fortune of 43.7 billion euros, Schwartz took first place, displacing BMW's successors Susan Klatten and Stefan Quandt (34.4 billion euros) from the top of the list.

Manager Magazin relies on archival and field documents, data from asset and property managers, lawyers and banks when conducting an assessment.
