September 4, Fineko/abc.az. The Russian car market grew by 34% year-on-year, and by 62% in all eight months of 2024, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the press service of the Association of European Businesses (AEB).

Sales of new automobiles and light commercial vehicles in Russia, taking into account alternative supply channels, amounted to 152,012 vehicles in August 2024, and according to data from PPK JSC - 155,277 vehicles. Thus, following the last month of summer, Alexey Kalitsev, the chairman of the AEB Committee of Automakers, assessing the problem, said: "There are some reasons behind this growth. Although there is shortage of supply in the market, especially after February 2022, it has caused significant growth. This deficit is being covered by new models."

By February 2022, Western automobile companies, which are market leaders in Russia, announced their withdrawal from the country with the outbreak of war in Ukraine.
