August 23, Fineko/abc.az. In a groundbreaking update, WhatsApp has eliminated the necessity of sharing phone numbers for communication within the app. ABC.AZ reports that users will no longer need to provide their mobile numbers to others to engage in conversations on the platform. Instead, a username will suffice, aligning WhatsApp with other popular social networks.
The new beta version also introduces a PIN code feature, empowering users to limit spam and unwanted interactions when setting up their usernames. This addition enhances user control and privacy.
WhatsApp will offer users three privacy options: username only, last seen, and phone number visibility. This granular control allows individuals to decide with whom they wish to share their mobile numbers, providing a more secure and personalized experience.
Furthermore, the update includes a privacy option that combines the username with a four-digit PIN code. When activated, only users who know the PIN code can send messages to the account holder, adding an extra layer of security.
