July 9, Fineko/abc.az. Luxury brand Volkswagen Group Porsche has announced a 7% decrease in global car sales in the 1st half of this year against Jan-Jun 2023.
ABC.AZ reports that sales fell primarily because of decline of demand in China.
In 6 months of 2024, the company delivered 29,551 vehicles to China (33% less than in 2023).
Porsche says that the decline in sales is caused by the ongoing tense economic situation in the Chinese market and the company's focus on selling more profitable models.
Porsche has lagged behind in other markets. In the first 6 months of 2024, Porsche sales in North America dropped by 6% against Jan-Jun 2023 to 36,558 vehicles. In Germany, Porsche's main market, sales grew by 22% up to 20,811 vehicles.
