May 29, Fineko/abc.az. Japanese automakers Toyota, Subaru and Mazda decided to join forces in the process of developing a new generation of internal combustion engines during the spread of electric vehicles.

These engines should receive integrated electric drives and batteries, which will make them a kind of plug-in hybrids.

Companies want to make engines carbon neutral. Perhaps liquid hydrogen, synthetic fuels or alternative sources will be used for this purpose.

Toyota is already promoting a hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine in motorsport. Mazda is also experimenting with alternative fuels. An example is model Mazda 3 Gr.4 with biodiesel engine.
