Cyber attacks on healthcare sector grew by 74% against previous year

The annual damage from cyber attacks worldwide in 2022 is estimated at $6 trillion, $500 bn per month, $115.4 bn per week, $684.9 million per hour, $11.4 million per minute, $190,000 per second. However, the consequences of global damage in 2023 have not yet been officially announced, ABC.AZ reports quoting deputy head of the State Service for Special Communications & Information Security Allahveryan Ismayilov.

He said that according to the Checkpoint report, educational and research institutions (institutes) remained the most targeted sector in 2023, while attacks on the healthcare sector increased by 74% compared with the previous year: "According to report We are Social 2023, 57.2% of the 8.1 billion people on Earth are connecting to devices, receive online services, of which 5.44 billion people, that is, 68% are operators of only 1 mobile device, 4.76 billion and 59.4% actively use various accounts on social networks."

"96.2% of active Internet users, in addition to several phones, use 58% of laptops or desktops, 33.7% of tablets, 29.9% of smartwatches, 16.5% of smart TVs, 16.4% of smart home devices, 5.6% of virtual reality devices," he added.
