April 1, Fineko/abc.az. Google officially closes Google Podcasts app from April 2.

ABC.AZ reports that the Podcasts app, which has been running for the last day today, has been popular: it has been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide. Google is encouraging listeners to switch to YouTube Music to listen to their podcasts.

According to Google, this should create a "better place" for listeners and content creators. YouTube Music offers YouTube-centric features related to community, discovery, and the ability to seamlessly switch between audio and video content.

Google Podcasts service has been in operation for more than five years, it offered a simple and optimized interface for searching, tracking and listening to podcasts, as well as providing tools for adding podcasts via an RSS feed. The reason for the rejection of this service was the intention of Google Corporation to focus its audio services on YouTube.
